TASK 1.  TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND OUTREACH

Since September 1999, the Building America Industrialized Housing Partnership (BAIHP) has provided technical assistance in the construction of more than 7,500 homes built to Energy Star or higher levels of energy efficiency. Another 10,000+ HUD Code Homes reached HERS scores around 85 with BAIHP help. These homes perform about 25% better than MEC and 40% to 50% better than a typical HUD code home. (Please see Tables 1 and 2.)  The numbers do not include the energy savings from airtight duct systems in an additional 44,000+ homes produced through December 31, 2002 by team members Palm Harbor Homes (30,000+ homes), Cavalier Homes (1,000+ homes) and Southern Energy Homes (12,800 homes).

BAIHP also provided training that resulted in nearly 600 Habitat for Humanity homes being  built across the US.  (Please see pp. 10-16.)
