Mr. Colon is a Senior Research Engineer at the
Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC). He holds a BS degree in Electronic
Engineering Technology (B.S.E.E.T.) from the Interamerican University,
P.R. During the last sixteen years working at FSEC, he has performed
as principal investigator conducting research for the State Energy
Office - Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) in Florida,
Department of Energy (DOE), New York State Energy Research and
Development Authority (NYSERDA) and Florida Power and Light (FPL).
In Lakeland, Florida, Mr. Colon was responsible for developing
the first utility-owned solar water heating system program with
Lakeland Electric. During July 2002, the program reached a Stellar
Project status under the U.S. Department of Energy - Office of
Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. Mr. Colon has also investigated
roof integrated solar absorbers under a grant sponsored by the
National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and the Energy Efficiency
Office at DOE. The concept has proven to be part of the Energy
Supply Systems Integration (ESSI) for high performance homes.
He is currently a member Building America Industrialized Housing
Partnership (BAIHP) team, where he conducts research and performs
energy simulations for residential buildings.
